VISION

We, the Knights of the Altar envision ourselves to be an inspiration to all young men by being an instrument of the church through liturgical involvement, apostolic mission and by living a Christ-like life.

MISSION

As a young Server of Christ, our Mission is to mold responsible and committed young men who will be in loving service to the church and the society.

Extraordinary Ministers of the Holy Eucharist

BASIC TASKS OF THE ORGANIZATION

  • Assist the Priest in the distribution of Holy Communion during Liturgical celebrations
  • Exercise Proper care in handling the Body of Christ to Parishioners and sick person 
  • In the absence and with permission from the priest, conduct blessing of vehicle and other Items.

DIOCESAN SHRINE AND PARISH of OUR LADY OF THE ABANDONED MINISTRY OF LECTORS AND COMMENTATORS

BACKGROUND

  • Formed to enhance, improve and beautify every mass celebration.  
  • Composed of selected and prequalified persons who are trained and commissioned to proclaim the word of God. 
  • Voluntary service and being a lector is an honor and requires a commitment to live  good and honorable lives. 

PURPOSE: VISION & MISSION 

  1. Proclaim the  Word of God wholeheartedly
  2. Assist the priest with a meaningful mass celebration 
  3. Set an example on how to apply in life what they proclaim 
  4. Be a  living witness in daily work life. 
  5. Be the source of grace through the proclamation of the Word. 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follow the duties and schedule assigned to him / her 
  • Continue to promulgate the Word of God
  • Attend  Formation Seminars and Meetings of the Ministry
  • Obey the Parish Priest, Spiritual Director, and leaders in the church 
  • Train the newly recruited members of the Ministry 
  • Undergo renewal of commitment every year. 
  • Regular and Special Activities
  • Monthly meeting 
  • Seminars, Annual Retreat and Recollection
  • Outreach programs 
  • Practicum? Or Attend Practice Sessions  for members especially those who will serve in  special masses
  • Social gatherings such Outing and Christmas party 
  • Presidein  various novena of the parish

Ministry of Ushers

History

  • 1987 during the time of Fr. Henry Mediarito, the ushers serving during the mass came from different organizations since there was no OLA Ministry of Usher members then.
  • New ushers started their practicum and in 2000,  Msgr. Arnel F. Lagarejos, the Parish Priest of Our Lady of Abandoned established the OLA Ministry of Ushers. 
  • Some church workers from Sta. Ursula Parish, Binangonan, Rizal, conducted Training Seminars to the OLA Ushers followed by the Election of Officers. 
  • The official Uniform evolved from Cream to Blue with white scarf.
  • The first OLA Ministry of Ushers President was Sis. Crispiniana Rodriguez, followed by Sis Liberty Quezon and Bro Lito Saavedra. Sr Belen Torcatos served as OIC during the Lockdown 

Vision 

Envision an orderly   Community during Eucharistic Celebrations and other Church Activities through systematic seating arrangements and maintaining a  peaceful  prayerful environment.

  • Serve as OLA Frontliners during Eucharistic Celebrations by welcoming and guiding Church Goersduring Liturgical Celebrations.

Basic Tasks of the Organization

  • Maintain the orderliness of the OLA specially during the celebration of the Holy Eucharist by assisting Church Goers find a seat.
  • Assist Latecomers in finding a Seat 
  • Maintain the orderliness of the OLA specially during the celebration of the Holy Eucharist.
  • Encourage  lively and active participation of the laity in church activities especially  during the Eucharistic Celebrations. 
  • Responsible for the collection of  Church Offerings and make sure it is turned over  in the Proper Place/Office. 
  • Stand ready to assist anyone among  the  Church  Attendees who might  need help . 
  • Inform those concerned persons regarding any urgent matters/Concerns,  in the Sanctuary and outside with the OLA Marshals.
  • Assist in the implementation of Safety Protocols during Church Activities.

History

  • Formed and organized by Msgr. Mariano Balbago after their pilgrimage  to Holy Land.
  • Members of this Pilgrimage Group  automatically became members until such time when  they invited even non pilgrims.
  • Since St. Pancratius is the Patron Saint  of  business, most of the members are business men/women.

Vision / Mission

Salvation of Souls through  devotion to OLA.

OLA Music Ministry

Vision

To enhance liturgical celebrations through song and music through Praise and Worship  thereby encouraging  participation of the congregation in the  responses and in the singing led by the choirs 

Mission 

Sharing the good news of Jesus through song and music

Basic Tasks of the Organization 

  • Singing in the Mass, prayer meetings, weddings, recollections and other church celebrations of liturgical seasons especially during Advent, Simbang-gabi, Christmas and New Year and Epiphany, Lenten season, OLA fiesta.
  • Formation at least twice or thrice a year.
  • Regular monthly meetings every 3rd Sunday at 2pm.
  • Individual choir meetings and practices are in place. 
  • Performing and singing in concerts produced and sponsored by OLA especially offered to Our Lady of the Abandoned.

Special Activities

  • General Assembly  
  • Lenten Recollection 
  • Joint choir practices especially for preparation for the Easter triduum.
  • Recording of mass songs with tenor or choir for live streamed masses 
  • Recording of the official and original composition  OLA Hymn by the Music Ministry with  Orchestral Management
